Monsignor Gilles Wach, founder and prior general of the traditionalist Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICRSP), has been an honorary member of the Rotary Club Firenze Valdisieve for years. Medias-Presse.info highlights Rotary publications from both 2014 and 2024 describing Monsignor Wach as an honorary member, including on occasions when the club was received at the ICRSP seminary in Gricigliano. Bishops’ conferences may pursue “appropriate steps in different contexts” after the 'Amoris Laetitia' meeting. The Vatican today released details of Leo XIV’s meeting with 248 bishops marking ten years of 'Amoris Laetitia' (October 7–14). It will be conducted in a “synodal style.” Participants will work in 16 small groups before discussing their results in plenary. They will use the Synod on Synodality’s “Conversation in the Spirit”: three rounds consisting of sharing personal experience, “resonating” with what others have said, and jointly identifying what has emerged. Fr. Humanly speaking, Bishop Schneider doesn't see Leo XIV reversing Francis' course. The celebration of the Pontifical Mass at the end of October in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore - instead of St. Peter’s Basilica - can be described as a “consolation prize,” Bishop Athanasius Schneider told Gloria.tv (video below). It is “sad,” he said, that these Catholics are not allowed to celebrate Mass in St. Peter’s. At the same time, Santa Maria Maggiore is the most important Marian church in Christendom. Both Pius V - who codified the traditional Mass for all time - and Francis - who restricted it - are buried there. Bishop Corrado Sanguineti of Pavia is the frontrunner to become the next Archpriest of St Peter’s Basilica - succeeding Cardinal Mauro Gambetti. Writing for IlGiornale.it, Nico Spuntoni says Bishop Sanguineti is now in “pole position” for the post following Gambetti’s departure. Other names floated in recent weeks include former papal master of ceremonies Archbishop Guido Marini, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, Archpriest of the Basilica of St Mary Major. Leo XIV knew Sanguineti before his election to the papacy through Pavia, home to the tomb of St Augustine. The two celebrated a Eucharist together there in February 2024.
