Bishop of Northampton Charged with Two Counts of Rape

Bishop David Oakley, 70, of Northampton, England, has been charged with two counts of rape involving a girl under the age of 16, according to Staffordshire Police. He was ordained a bishop on March 19, 2020 (pictured).
The charges come after his arrest in September 2025, following the reporting of an allegation to police.
Monsignor Oakley is scheduled to appear before Cannock Magistrates' Court on August 14.
In a statement, the Diocese of Northampton confirmed that the charges stem from an investigation into what it described as "non-recent safeguarding allegations."
"We understand that this will be very distressing for all concerned but cannot comment further on an active legal process," the diocese said.
There has been no public statement from Bishop Oakley admitting or denying the charges. He is presumed innocent.

Well…it wasn’t a North African or a Muslim this time.

Padre Pio answered firmly. The Graces are not mine to give.

Never forget that GOD gives Graces to whom He chooses. It's not our right to begrudge Him of that. Whether we like someone or not. So we should not deny it nor begrudge anyone for what Our Lord gives to others.
Why Padre Pio Was Forbidden to Heal This Famous Actress Discover a profound spiritual lesson from San Giovanni Rotondo when a miracle did not happen. When a famous Italian actress begged Padre Pio for a cure, the saint was forced to accept a painful limitation from God, weeping over his inability to heal her. Learn how unanswered prayers and enduring suffering can actually cause our love for Christ to grow, perfect, and mature into a beautiful act of grace.

In December 1585, during the Eighty Years’ War, nearly 4,000 elite Spanish soldiers of the legendary Tercios found themselves in a desperate situation near Empel in the Netherlands.
While digging defensive trenches, a soldier unearthed a beautifully preserved wooden panel depicting the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception. The troops saw it as a heavenly sign. They carried the image in solemn procession, raised it high with their battle flags, and prayed fervently.
That very night — December 7 to 8, the eve and feast of the Immaculate Conception — an extraordinary event occurred. A sudden, intense frost froze the floodwaters solid. The watery trap became a bridge of thick ice.
At dawn on December 8, the Tercios marched across the frozen river in perfect formation. They launched a surprise attack on the Dutch fleet, setting ships ablaze and capturing others. The Dutch were caught completely off guard, with many vessels trapped in the ice. The Spanish achieved a total and stunning …Mai

Toward the Spirit: Why Faithful Catholics Need to Recover the Patristic and Scholastic Vision of Marriage
Faithful Catholics today find themselves in an unusual position.
On one side stands a secular culture that has largely abandoned Christian morality altogether. Marriage has been redefined, chastity ridiculed, fertility treated as a burden, and self-denial dismissed as unhealthy. Against these errors, faithful Catholics rightly defend the Church's teaching.
Yet another danger confronts us—one far more subtle.
It is possible to defend Catholic morality while gradually losing sight of the theological vision that once animated it.
We may continue to affirm the Church's teachings while forgetting the spiritual principles that gave those teachings their shape. We may preserve the conclusions while neglecting the foundations.
This danger is especially evident in the realm of marriage.
The Catholic Church continues to teach the sanctity of marriage, the evil of contraception, the goodness …Mai

De Mattei: Any Bishop Could Claim a Right to Consecrate Bishops in a Crisis

Italian historian Roberto de Mattei reflected on the announced episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) in an article published on CorrispondenzaRomana.it on June 24.
"State of Necessity" Cannot Be Self-Judged
For De Mattei, the state of necessity argument is simultaneously "the weakest and the strongest argument".
His question is: "Who has the authority to verify the existence of such a state and determine its beginning and end?"
He argues that if the FSSPX can independently determine when a state of necessity exists, then it also implicitly claims the authority to determine when that state ends.
That would place the FSSPX in a position of judging the Holy See rather than being judged by it.
De Mattei acknowledges that Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was not a speculative theologian or canonist, but a pastor of souls: "The decisive criterion for him was not the assertion of a right proper to the FSSPX, but the spiritual need of the faithful."
Can Any Bishop …Mai

Do not lose sight of the fact that Roberto de Matteo is an historian, not a theologian. He actually has no training in theology.
He is a skillful writer, and often writes about the Catholic Church. But to give even a moment of thought to his representations about his opinion on the actions of the FSSPX would be very foolish.

Empty Words: Vatican Denies Indult for Ubiquitous Lay Preaching

The Vatican has rejected – on paper only – a request from the German Bishops' Conference to permit lay people to preach during the Eucharist by means of an "indult."
A June 17 letter, written by Cardinal Arthur Roche, Prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship, was published on Dbk.de.
The German bishops' proposal sought permission to allow lay employees, in the usual exceptional circumstances, to deliver a "homiletic reflection" following the Gospel during the Eucharist.
In his reply, Cardinal Roche claims with canon law that the homily is an integral part of the liturgy [only since Pius X] and is reserved to a priest or deacon. He stresses that the reservation of the homily to clergy is not merely a disciplinary norm and does not depend on theological competence or communication skills.
Cardinal Roche disputes the claim that current pastoral circumstances require an exception. Where a priest is present to celebrate the Eucharist, he is also present to preach. Where no priest is …Mai

Synodal Rome Co-Organizes Antichrist Conference That Brings Together Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs for the Sake of “Fraternity”

Before Vatican II, such an event would have been inconceivable.
The Synodal Church’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue is currently co-hosting (June 23–24) a conference titled Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jains and Sikhs in Europe: Building Fraternity through Dialogue and Collaboration, and yes, it is as antichrist and anti-Catholic as it sounds.
The opening remarks of “Cardinal” George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, provided yet another startling illustration of the profound gulf separating the religion practiced and promoted by the post-conciliar hierarchy from the Catholic faith taught for centuries before the Second Vatican Council.
Addressing the conference, “Cardinal” Koovakad presented religious diversity not as a problem to be overcome through conversion to the true Faith, but as a positive richness to be celebrated. He called upon representatives of different religions to unite in promoting fraternity, peace, justice, and the …

Regional countries seek to establish security framework with Iran: Qatar PM to Financial Times - Region - World

Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks during an interview with the Financial Times (FT).
Assessing the regional landscape, the Qatari PM said regional countries are seeking to establish a new security framework with Tehran aimed at restoring long-term stability.
“Part of what we are doing now, as regional countries, is to create this regional security framework between us and Iran,” Sheikh Mohammed added. “That will hopefully have economic co-operation in the future between all of us, to bring the region back to stability.”
